Receiver Amari Rodgers offers more special teams value than Taylor or Goodson, and the Packers have used him out of the backfield this summer, too. Since players can be elevated from the practice squad to the game-day roster three times in a season before teams must sign them to the active roster, the Packers can use those elevations on Taylor and Goodson in some combination, assuming both clear waivers, until Hill is ready. My podcast co-host Bill Huber floated this idea on our last show, so hear me out … If the Packers want Hill to be the third running back when he comes off the PUP list - he must miss at least the first four games of the season - they could bank on the likelihood both Taylor and Goodson clear waivers and give one of their spots on the 53 to someone with a higher chance of getting claimed ( Jack Heflin? Samori Toure?).
